Colt Activates Dublin-to-London Fiber Route

Colt announced activation of a new, fully operational network route from Dublin to London via Manchester. This is the second high bandwidth route on the Colt network linking Dublin to London.

The Dublin to London route via Manchester follows the launch of Colt’s low latency route from Dublin to London via Birmingham. This latest expansion completes a network ring that links the two capital cities and connects hundreds of Ireland-based companies in the financial services, media and retail sectors to over 195 European cities. It connects Colt’s customers to all major business parks in Dublin, 20 data centres in and around the city, and provides fibre access to over 250 buildings.

“With half of the world’s top banks in Ireland, we’re seeing an increasing demand for high bandwidth connectivity, driven by the move to cloud services and the mission critical nature of data in the digital economy,” said François Eloy, Executive Vice President, Network Services, at Colt. “Our aim is to be the first choice for businesses in Europe. Our continued pan-European network investments provide our customers with unparalleled reach and world class infrastructure, thereby meeting their needs today and in the future.”

Colt said its network is ready to support new technical solutions including IPv6 and 1000Gbps Ethernet. The carrier’s infrastructure consists of 47,000km European network connecting 42 metropolitan area networks, 195 European cities and 20 Colt data centres, as well as 37,500km of transatlantic routes and US presence.
