Converge Chooses Infinera’s 1.2 Tbps Tech for Bifrost Cable Expansion

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has chosen Infinera’s 1.2 Tbps ICE7 optical engine for its new fiber pairs on the Bifrost Cable System. This system is a major 15,000 km trans-Pacific submarine cable linking North America to Southeast Asia. Converge, the fastest-growing broadband provider in the Philippines, will leverage Infinera’s high-capacity GX Series Compact Modular Platform to boost its subsea and terrestrial networks, improving both speed and cost-efficiency.

Converge’s partnership with Keppel gives the company an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) for one fiber pair on the Bifrost Cable System’s main trunk and the entire Davao branch. This system connects North America, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore. The technology upgrade includes modernizing Converge’s national fiber network, which now spans 70,000 kilometers. Converge aims to scale operations in response to rising bandwidth demand, delivering high-performance services across the Asia-Pacific region.

Infinera’s ICE7 technology enables Converge to operate at up to 1.2 Tbps per wavelength. The platform will also allow Converge to share advanced spectrum capabilities and provide seamless operation across its network, enabling significant capacity growth at a low cost over long distances.

Key points:

• Infinera’s 1.2 Tbps ICE7 optical engine selected for Bifrost Cable System.

• Converge will upgrade its national terrestrial fiber network using Infinera’s GX Series platform.

• The Bifrost Cable System spans over 15,000 km, linking North America with Southeast Asia.

• Converge operates over 70,000 kilometers of fiber and has passed 16 million homes in the Philippines.

• Infinera’s advanced optics and spectrum-sharing capabilities allow efficient scaling.
