BT has introduced a new Security Service Edge (SSE) capability to its managed secure SD-WAN service, developed in partnership with Fortinet. The update allows businesses and public sector organizations to transition seamlessly to a comprehensive Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution. This enhancement aims to address the growing demand for secure and agile cloud-based services, driven by digital transformation and increasingly dispersed workforces.

The upgraded service integrates Fortinet’s AI-powered technologies, including firewall-as-a-service, secure web gateway, cloud access security broker, and zero-trust network access. It ensures secure and consistent access to cloud-hosted applications and data from any location. The solution is built on BT’s flexible network options, spanning fixed and 5G connectivity, and is supported by BT’s unified monitoring services to detect and mitigate threats proactively. This partnership continues a decade-long collaboration between BT and Fortinet, further strengthening BT’s cybersecurity offerings.

• New Features: AI-powered SSE capabilities include firewall-as-a-service, secure web gateway, and zero-trust network access.

• Core Technology: The solution leverages Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, FortiSASE, and next-generation firewalls.

• Cloud-Centric Security: Provides seamless and secure access to cloud-hosted applications.

• Connectivity Options: Combines fixed, 4G, and 5G for flexible network setups.

• Threat Monitoring: Detects over 200 million cyber-attack signals daily via BT’s monitoring systems.

• Industries Targeted by Cyber-Attacks: IT, defense, and financial services remain the most vulnerable sectors.

“Our new managed service enables customers to provide consistent, seamless, and secure experiences to their users of cloud-hosted digital services regardless of location,” said Matt Swinden, Director of Digital Connectivity at BT. “This will help manage risks while driving innovation with technologies like IoT and AI.”
