CyrusOne has announced its entry into the Italian market with a state-of-the-art data center development in Milan, named MIL1. Situated on an 18.5-acre (7.5-hectare) site in Segrate, East Milan, the facility aims to serve as a critical gateway connecting Italy to Europe and the Mediterranean. The MIL1 data center will feature 27 megawatts of IT capacity across 9,000 square meters (97,000 square feet) of technical space over three floors. The project will be completed in three phases, with the first phase delivering 9 megawatts by Q3 2027.

CyrusOne is integrating sustainability and community support into the project. It acquired the nearby 658,628-square-meter (162-acre) Golfo Agricolo biodiverse plot and transferred ownership to Segrate for community use, ensuring its ecological preservation. The company has also committed to installing solar panels on local municipal buildings and funding infrastructure improvements, including pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, and public works in the Redecesio district.

Key Points:

• Facility Details:

• Location: Segrate, East Milan, Italy.

• Size: 9,000 square meters (97,000 square feet) of technical space.

• Capacity: 27 megawatts of IT capacity delivered in three phases.

• Sustainability: Designed to meet BREEAM “Very Good” certification and powered by 100% renewable energy.
