Adtran announced that Silo Communications, a rural broadband provider based in northern Illinois, is deploying the company’s fiber access portfolio and software platform to expand high-speed broadband services to underserved homes, businesses and agricultural communities. The project supports ongoing state and federal broadband initiatives aimed at improving connectivity in rural America while giving Silo Communications a scalable platform for future network growth.
Silo Communications is using Adtran’s SDX fiber access platform to deliver fiber connectivity from the access network into homes and businesses. The deployment also includes the Mosaic software suite for network automation and operational management, helping streamline operations as the provider expands its fiber footprint. At the subscriber edge, Adtran’s Intellifi-powered service delivery gateways provide multigigabit Wi-Fi, remote diagnostics and enhanced visibility to improve customer support and deliver a more consistent in-home broadband experience.
Silo Communications began as a wireless internet provider serving rural communities and is now expanding its fiber infrastructure to meet increasing demand for higher-capacity broadband services. 🌐 Analysis: Rural broadband providers continue to migrate from fixed wireless to fiber where funding and economics permit, creating opportunities for access equipment suppliers such as Adtran, Calix, Nokia and DZS. Software automation, cloud-managed operations and managed Wi-Fi platforms have become increasingly important differentiators as smaller regional operators expand networks while seeking to minimize operational complexity.
