Analog Devices completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of Empower Semiconductor, adding integrated voltage regulators and silicon capacitors designed for high-density AI processors and data center systems. ADI announced the all-cash transaction in May 2026 and closed it on July 7, expanding its power-management portfolio from facility-level infrastructure to point-of-load delivery near AI accelerators.
Empower’s technology addresses the final stages of power delivery, where voltage regulators must supply rapidly changing currents to kilowatt-class GPUs, XPUs and custom AI processors. Its Crescendo platform positions voltage regulation directly beneath the processor to shorten electrical paths and improve transient response. Empower also develops integrated voltage regulators for multi-domain chiplet designs, E-CAP silicon capacitors and the FinFast power platform, which combines FinFET-based power circuits, advanced packaging, magnetics and silicon capacitors.
ADI plans to combine these technologies with its existing power conversion, monitoring, control and protection portfolio. The acquisition supports ADI’s “grid-to-core” strategy, spanning power entering the data center through rack-level conversion and distribution to the tightly regulated voltages required by processors. ADI reported more than $11 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue, while its data center revenue increased by more than 90% year over year during fiscal Q2 2026.
