Anthropic, Palantir, and AWS Tune Claude AI Models for U.S. Defense Operations

Anthropic, Palantir Technologies, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have joined forces to make the Claude 3 and 3.5 AI models accessible to U.S. intelligence and defense agencies. Hosted on AWS, this collaboration integrates Claude models within Palantir’s AI Platform (AIP), offering a secure, scalable environment for U.S. government operations. Through Palantir’s accredited platform, these agencies gain tools for rapid data processing, pattern recognition, and enhanced insights in critical, time-sensitive situations.

With Claude models integrated into Palantir’s AIP, government customers can access AI capabilities supported by Amazon SageMaker, a managed machine learning service, and operate within an Impact Level 6 (IL6) certified environment—a high-security accreditation from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This setup equips agencies with the infrastructure required to handle complex data securely, providing an edge in decision-making for critical missions.

The Claude integration supports various government operations, from streamlining document review to automating complex data analysis. This partnership exemplifies the responsible use of AI in classified environments, building on the impact Claude and AIP have had in the commercial sector. In one example, a leading American insurer used the platform to drastically reduce underwriting time from two weeks to just three hours, highlighting its transformative potential in government contexts.

• Partnership: Anthropic, Palantir, AWS collaborate on AI for U.S. government.

• Technology: Claude 3 and 3.5 models operational within Palantir’s AI Platform on AWS.

• Security: Operates on IL6-accredited infrastructure with Amazon SageMaker integration.

• Use Cases: Document review, data analysis, pattern recognition, and decision-making support.

• Impact: Reduces process times, enhances insights, and supports critical government missions.

“Our partnership with Anthropic and AWS provides U.S. defense and intelligence communities the tool chain they need to harness and deploy AI models securely, bringing the next generation of decision advantage to their most critical missions,” said Shyam Sankar, CTO, Palantir.
