Avanex Announces Optical Performance Monitoring Products

March 1, 2006
in Uncategorized
A A

Avanex announced the availability of an optical performance monitoring (OPM) product portfolio, which serves system OEM and carrier customers. An OPM module can be used in a system OEM’s line card or a carrier can use an OPM stand-alone subsystem to monitor a network section. The modules offer power, wavelength and OSNR monitoring with accuracies at both 100 GHz and 50 GHz channel plans.

Avanex also offers OPM modular solutions through its PowerNode Flexible Optical Layer platform. Using standard SNMP or TL1 interfaces, the OPM can be directly deployed and managed as a stand-alone network element on a carrier’s optical network node. The OPM solution is designed as a plug-and- play module for the PowerNode shelf that provides simple composite optical power monitoring for dark fiber applications, or full channel-by-channel monitoring of optical performance for DWDM applications.
