At VMware Explore 2024 in Las Vegas, Broadcom introduced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9, marking a significant evolution in private cloud technology. VCF 9 aims to unify IT infrastructure, simplifying deployment, consumption, and operations of secure, cost-effective private clouds. The platform is designed to transition enterprises from siloed architectures to a cohesive system that supports modern app requirements while reducing operational costs and risks.

VCF 9 integrates advanced features such as a unified operations console, expanded import capabilities, and advanced memory tiering with NVMe. These enhancements are targeted at improving the efficiency, security, and scalability of private cloud environments. Broadcom also announced VMware Cloud Foundation Advanced Services, offering a robust catalog of ready-to-deploy solutions to accelerate innovation in private cloud settings.

• Unified Operations and Automation: VCF 9 reduces the number of management consoles to one for operations and one for automation, with integrated workflows for easier transition between tasks.

• Expanded Import Capabilities: Simplifies migration by allowing the integration of VMware NSX, VMware vDefend, VMware Avi Load Balancer, and complex storage topologies into VCF.

• Advanced Memory Tiering: Uses NVMe to enhance performance for AI, databases, and real-time analytics applications.

• Multi-Tenancy and VPC Support: Enables isolated infrastructure segmentation and streamlined networking with native VPC deployment.

• Enhanced Security and Compliance: Includes unified VCF security management, deep snapshot replication with vSAN, and expanded threat prevention capabilities with vDefend.

“VMware Cloud Foundation 9 will redefine the landscape for private cloud by delivering a modern, integrated platform that will unify operations and automation,” said Krish Prasad, senior vice president and general manager of the VCF Division at Broadcom.
