China Unicom and Huawei Roll Out First 10-Gigabit 5G-Advanced Network in Beijing

China Unicom Beijing and Huawei have deployed the first large-scale integrated 5G-Advanced intelligent network, targeting major sites like Beijing’s Workers’ Stadium and the Great Wall scenic area. The network combines high- and low-band integration and covers over 10 million residents with ultra-fast connectivity, including a three-component carrier (3CC) infrastructure. Key applications include immersive videos, UHD streaming, cloud gaming, and innovative services for industries such as IoT and XR.

At the Workers’ Stadium, the 10-gigabit 5G-Advanced network achieved a downlink peak rate of 11.2 Gbps and an uplink peak of 4 Gbps during field tests. The infrastructure supports up to 68,000 users streaming 1080p videos simultaneously. In Yanqing, the Great Wall area now benefits from uninterrupted coverage on the ground and in low-altitude airspace (below 300 meters), facilitating tourism, logistics, and emergency operations. Additionally, the deployment of AI-driven optimization and self-provisioning tools has significantly reduced setup times and operational risks.

• Coverage: Over 85% 5G-Advanced coverage across Beijing’s 4th Ring Road and Administrative Center.

• Speed: Downlink peaks of 11.2 Gbps and uplink peaks of 4 Gbps at the Workers’ Stadium.

• Applications: Enhanced IoV, IoT, XR, tourism, logistics, and emergency response.

• Automation: End-to-end AI-driven optimization and self-provisioning, reducing setup times from days to minutes.

• Low-Altitude Innovation: Ground-to-air coverage for economic activities below 300 meters.
