CoreWeave to Invest $6B in Pennsylvania Data Center

CoreWeave announced plans to invest over $6 billion in a new AI-optimized data center in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The initial 100MW facility—expandable to 300MW—will be one of the region’s first hyperscale data centers designed specifically for advanced AI workloads. The project aims to support U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence while boosting the state’s economy and job market.

The announcement coincides with the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit hosted at Carnegie Mellon University, where CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator is participating in a CEO roundtable alongside former President Donald J. Trump, Senator Dave McCormick, Governor Josh Shapiro, and Senator John Fetterman. Officials lauded the project for its potential to stimulate local economic growth, create high-paying jobs, and advance Pennsylvania’s role as a national tech and energy leader. The facility is expected to create around 600 construction jobs and 70 technical roles at launch, scaling up to 175 positions in the future.

The Lancaster data center will be co-developed by Chirisa Technology Parks and Machine Investment Group, with CoreWeave as the tenant. The partnership plans to invest in workforce development and community engagement initiatives. The new facility joins CoreWeave’s existing portfolio of 33 AI data centers, including 28 in the United States, and is part of the company’s broader strategy to build AI infrastructure across key U.S. regions.
