ECI Telecom Enhances its Hi-FOCuS MSAN for IPTV

ECI Telecom has enhanced its Hi-FOCuS-5 Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) with new MSAN’s new traffic management capabilities for improving the delivery of IPTV and other video services. ECI’s MSAN broadband access platforms currently support over one million IPTV subscribers.

ECI said these new capabilities allows carriers higher flexibility when deploying video networks, through higher and more differentiated QoS granularity, as bandwidth can be managed at different levels, depending on the service requested. The platform is also able to distinguish multicast traffic from unicast traffic within the same stream and prioritize them to avoid traffic congestion towards the network.

Additional new features increase the capacity of the platform, allowing up to 10G per service slot. ECI features an any-card, any-slot architecture, allowing the coexistence of all service types, such as video, voice and high-speed data alongside different access technologies and various protocols (such as Layer 2 and Layer 3).

In addition, ECI is also introducing improved service blades, including a higher density VDSL2 card supporting 48 subscribers; a new, four-port GPON blade supporting up to a 128 split; and support for non-blocking 64 concurrent voice lines. For voice applications, ECI offers interoperability with leading softswitch vendors.
