Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has unveiled a major expansion of its radio, antenna, and open fronthaul solutions ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The new RAN Connect portfolio, along with seven new energy-efficient radios and indoor 5G solutions, will help communications service providers (CSPs) reduce energy use by up to 30 percent, lower operational costs, and cut embodied carbon footprint by up to 50 percent. With these advancements, Ericsson is on track to offer 130 radio products supporting open and programmable networks in 2025, ensuring greater flexibility and scalability for future network evolution.

Massive MIMO and Remote Radios

• AIR 3266 – A 400W wide-band TDD Massive MIMO radio in an ultra-slim design. Reduces energy consumption by up to 30 percent and embodied carbon footprint by 50 percent, powered by Ericsson Silicon with 32-branch transceivers for enhanced spectral efficiency.

• AIR 3285 – A dual-band FDD Massive MIMO radio delivering four times higher uplink capacity than traditional solutions. Weighing only 30kg, it reduces energy use by 30 percent and embodied carbon by 40 percent.

• AIR 6494 – A 64-branch wideband TDD Massive MIMO radio with 480W output power, offering 30 percent energy savings and high-performance efficiency.

• AIR 3265 – An ultra-light, ultra-slim 32-branch radio with high Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP), providing 25 percent energy savings and 30 percent reduced embodied carbon.

• Radio 4451HP – A compact, wideband FDD radio that reduces size, weight, and energy use by 20 percent, with 25 percent less embodied carbon compared to its predecessor.

• Radio 4491 – A 720W high-output FDD radio weighing just 30kg, delivering 20 percent lower energy use and 40 percent reduced embodied carbon footprint.

RAN Connect – Open Fronthaul Solutions

• RAN Connect 6381 – A 600Gbps all-outdoor fronthaul solution designed for high scalability and efficiency in next-gen RAN deployments.

• RAN Connect 6682 – A high-capacity fronthaul solution with up to 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps) throughput, ideal for large-scale network expansions.

• RAN Connect 6681 – A 600Gbps indoor fronthaul solution optimized for varied interface configurations to support versatile network architectures.

Indoor 5G Solutions and Antennas

• Indoor Fusion Unit 8828 – A compact gigabit-speed indoor 5G solution for small and medium enterprises, doubling coverage to 8,000 square meters (80,000 sq. ft.) and supporting up to eight Radio Dots.

• Interleaved Antenna 8001 & 8002 – Combines low-band FDD with Massive MIMO TDD and FDD in a single footprint, reducing site rental costs and simplifying installation.

• New Antenna System Portfolio – Features advanced designs for 15 percent higher uplink throughput, 29 percent reduced radio output power, and improved carrier aggregation. The flagship Antenna 4818 offers 85 percent beam efficiency, 37 percent lighter weight, and 42 percent lower embodied carbon footprint.

Power and Energy Optimization

• Power D620 – A programmable Smart DC distribution system with dynamic energy slicing, prioritizing critical services for extended uptime. Zero-watt sleep mode eliminates energy usage during radio sleep intervals, improving RAN energy efficiency.
