HPE Taps Intel, Quantinuum, Rigetti and QuEra for Hybrid Quantum-HPC

LAS VEGAS — At HPE Discover 2026,  HPE⁠ announced expanded research collaborations with eight leading quantum technology companies as it seeks to bridge high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum computing through hybrid architectures. The initiative brings together  Intel⁠,  IQM Quantum Computers⁠,  Qblox⁠,  Quantinuum⁠,  QuEra Computing⁠,  Quantum Machines⁠,  Rigetti Computing⁠, and  Riverlane⁠ to explore how quantum processors, quantum control systems, and quantum error correction technologies can be integrated with HPE’s supercomputing infrastructure.

HPE said the collaborations will focus on building a full-stack hybrid quantum supercomputing platform capable of supporting integrated testbeds for algorithm co-design, software interoperability, and system-level benchmarking across HPC and AI environments. The effort spans multiple quantum modalities, including superconducting, ion trap, neutral atom, and silicon spin qubits, enabling researchers to evaluate architectural tradeoffs and develop hybrid workflows that combine quantum and classical resources.

The initiative builds on HPE’s position in the HPC market through its Cray supercomputing portfolio and reflects a growing industry consensus that practical quantum computing will require tight integration with classical computing systems. Rather than betting on a single quantum hardware approach, HPE is assembling an ecosystem that spans processors, control systems, and error correction technologies, creating a framework for evaluating how emerging quantum systems can operate alongside existing AI factories and supercomputers.
