Intel Introduces Xeon 6 SoC Optimized for vRAN and AI Workloads

Intel announced the upcoming release of its Intel Xeon 6 SoC, designed to optimize virtual radio access network (vRAN) workloads. The new processor, part of the Intel Xeon 6 family, integrates Performance-cores and Intel Ethernet, aiming to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for network operators. With a higher core count and enhanced energy efficiency, the SoC enables operators to cut server footprints and operating expenses while meeting performance-per-watt demands.

As operators increasingly rely on artificial intelligence to enhance their networks, Intel designed the Xeon 6 with AI acceleration specifically for RAN environments. Intel, which claims its processors are already central to nearly every commercial vRAN deployment, sees the Xeon 6 SoC as a step forward in addressing flexibility and cost-efficiency challenges.
