At Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, MediaTek introduced the M90 5G-Advanced modem, aligning with 3GPP Release 17 and the upcoming Release 18 specifications. The M90 modem delivers downlink speeds up to 12 Gbps and enhances uplink performance by up to 20% through 2T-2T Uplink TX switching. It supports both sub-6 GHz (FR1 with up to 6CC-CA) and mmWave (FR2 with up to 10CC-CA) connectivity, along with dual 5G SIM dual-active support for simultaneous data capabilities.

The M90 integrates MediaTek Modem AI (MMAI) technology, featuring AI models that optimize power efficiency and device performance by analyzing data traffic patterns and detecting device orientation. Additionally, the modem includes satellite (NTN) connectivity, supporting 3GPP IoT-NTN for low data rate applications and NR-NTN for high data rate services. MediaTek’s UltraSave technology further reduces average power consumption by up to 18% compared to previous generations, extending battery life and enhancing overall device performance.

• Downlink speed: Up to 12 Gbps

• Uplink improvement: Up to 20% with 2T-2T Uplink TX switching

• Connectivity support: Sub-6 GHz (FR1) and mmWave (FR2) with extensive carrier aggregation

• AI integration: MediaTek Modem AI (MMAI) for power and performance optimization

• Satellite connectivity: Supports 3GPP IoT-NTN and NR-NTN technologies

• Power efficiency: MediaTek UltraSave technology reduces power consumption by up to 18%

“The advanced AI and 5G features in our M90 modem make it possible for OEMs to offer differentiated performance with more design flexibility,” said Mingxi Fan, Senior General Manager of Wireless Technology Group at MediaTek.
