Nokia Delivers 20.8 Tbps Subsea Capacity on Indonesia-Singapore Cable

Nokia is powering PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (Surge) with subsea optical technology to boost connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore while extending affordable broadband to millions of households across the archipelago. The deployment, which leverages Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS), is part of Surge’s national infrastructure expansion aimed at providing reliable, fiber-based internet access to underserved communities.

The new high-capacity subsea link between Jakarta and Singapore will deliver 20.8 Tbps of initial capacity, supporting ultra-high-speed services of up to 800GE for enterprises and data center operators. This expansion strengthens regional interconnectivity, enabling low-latency services and advancing Indonesia’s digital economy. Surge said the infrastructure will underpin efforts to extend affordable broadband to 40 million households across the country.

Nokia’s subsea optical solution provides scalable, power-efficient transmission while ensuring operational efficiency. The deployment aligns with Surge’s mission of digital equity, supporting both broadband for consumers and capacity for Tier-1 and Tier-2 enterprises.
