Ribbon Communications announced that Indonesian network provider PT Jala Lintas Media (JLM) has selected its Apollo optical networking platform and Data Center Interconnect (DCI) solution for a greenfield DWDM deployment connecting Indonesia and Singapore. The project expands subsea and metro optical capacity while supporting high-bandwidth connectivity for cloud services and AI workloads. System integration for the deployment is being provided by PT Mahavira System Integra.
JLM is deploying Ribbon’s Apollo 9608 modular optical transport platform across metro, core, and DCI applications as the foundation for its expanding optical network. According to Ribbon, the platform delivers high-density wavelength transport with a compact footprint and lower power consumption, enabling increased network capacity while reducing operational costs. The first phase establishes scalable data center connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore, with additional network expansion planned.
Ribbon said its DCI portfolio helped JLM accelerate deployment timelines while providing a platform capable of supporting future traffic growth. JLM cited the combination of technical capabilities, compact design, energy efficiency, and rapid implementation as key factors in selecting Ribbon’s solution for the project.

The Apollo platform competes with offerings from Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Infinera’s former portfolio (now part of Nokia), Huawei, and Fujitsu in regional transport and DCI deployments, where operators are increasingly seeking integrated optical platforms that combine metro, long-haul, and data center connectivity with lower operating costs.
