Nokia to Upgrade BBIX Network with 400GE

Nokia has announced that BBIX, Inc., a leading Internet Exchange provider, will deploy its IP routing technology to upgrade its network to 400GE. The upgrade will address exponential internet traffic growth and enable BBIX to enhance capacity, stability, and operational efficiency. Deployment begins in Japan this year, with plans to expand into other markets, including Singapore. The new infrastructure will deliver superior services to BBIX customers while supporting scalable business growth.

BBIX will utilize Nokia’s 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR) running the Nokia SR Linux Network Operating System (NOS) to accommodate the increasing number of high-bandwidth customers. The 7220 IXR offers flexibility, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, making it an optimal choice for high-capacity networks. With the upgrade, BBIX aims to provide seamless scalability and improved performance to meet the demands of data-intensive applications in modern digital environments.

This collaboration marks a significant step in addressing global data traffic growth, particularly in regions like Japan and Singapore, where internet usage is surging. BBIX’s President & CEO, Hideyuki Sasaki, highlighted the importance of intelligent infrastructure for managing traffic growth, emphasizing Nokia’s role in delivering a cost-effective and scalable solution. Nokia’s VP and Head of IP Networks, Kent Wong, expressed confidence in Nokia’s routing portfolio, noting its ability to future-proof BBIX’s network.
