Oracle Database@Google Cloud Launches in Japan

A A

Oracle and Google Cloud introduced Oracle Database@Google Cloud in Japan, marking the service’s first availability in the country. The offering enables customers to run Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure and Oracle Autonomous Database in Google Cloud’s Asia-Northeast 1 (Tokyo) region. This expansion brings powerful Oracle database capabilities to customers via Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) inside Google Cloud datacenters, offering low-latency performance and addressing data sovereignty requirements in Japan.

The service supports mission-critical enterprise workloads such as transaction processing, supply chain analytics, and financial services applications. It also integrates with Google Cloud’s native services, including the Gemini AI assistant and Vertex AI platform, allowing developers to build new cloud-native applications using Oracle Database 23ai and its advanced features like AI Vector Search and JSON Relational Duality Views. Oracle Autonomous Database, running on Exadata infrastructure with Real Application Clusters (RAC), delivers high performance, automation, and integration with Google Cloud’s console and APIs.

In a significant channel development, a new partner program will allow Google Cloud and Oracle partners in Japan to resell Oracle Database@Google Cloud via the Google Cloud Marketplace using private offers. The program, set to launch within 12 months, targets partners enrolled in both the Google Cloud Partner Advantage and Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). Additional services, including Oracle Base Database Service, will also become available soon, expanding support for Oracle Database versions 19c and 23ai. The Japan rollout adds to existing Oracle Database@Google Cloud deployments in Frankfurt, London, Ashburn, and Salt Lake City, with Osaka and other global locations planned in the coming year.

  • Oracle Database@Google Cloud now live in Tokyo’s Asia-Northeast 1 region
  • Supports Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure and Oracle Autonomous Database
  • Integrates with Google Cloud’s AI stack including Vertex AI and Gemini
  • New partner program enables channel sales via private offers on Google Cloud Marketplace
  • Upcoming regional expansions include Osaka, Delhi, Sydney, São Paulo, Montreal, and more
