Nokia has announced the appointment of Patrik Hammarén as President of Nokia Technologies and a member of the Nokia Group Leadership Team, effective immediately. Hammarén, who has been acting as President of Nokia Technologies since October 2024, will now officially lead the business group responsible for managing and monetizing Nokia’s extensive patent portfolio, which underpins its contributions to global technology standards. Hammarén will be based in Finland and report directly to Nokia’s CEO, Pekka Lundmark.

Hammarén joined Nokia in 2007 and has held key roles in its patent licensing division, including Chief Licensing Officer for Wireless Technologies and Vice President for the IoT Licensing Program. He played a pivotal role in securing Nokia’s smartphone license renewals and expanding the company’s IoT licensing business. Pekka Lundmark praised Hammarén’s strategic vision and extensive experience, noting his ability to drive growth in Nokia’s intellectual property business. Reflecting on his new position, Hammarén said, “It is a great honor to be asked to lead Nokia Technologies. I look forward to maximizing the value of our industry-leading patent portfolio and continuing to grow our licensing business.”
