What’s driving the future of optical networking in 2025?

Dr. Suresh Venkatesan, Chairman and CEO from POET Technologies offers three predictions:

– Optical interposers are becoming essential for integrating electronic and optical components at wafer scale, enabling AI workloads through laser-based data movement
– Industry is advancing toward 1.6 Tbps speeds, with companies already planning for 3.2 terabit architectures to meet AI bandwidth demands
– 200 gigabit per lane technology emerges as crucial for next-generation optical modules, with EA modulators based on Indium Phosphide technology leading the way
