Proxim announced new security and scalability enhancements for its ORiNOCO Access Point family, including advanced rogue access point (AP) detection, SNMPv3 and SSL secure management interfaces, and automatic network-based re-configuration of the AP to foil unauthorized attempts to locally disable security settings. Also, ORiNOCO access points now offer wireless repeating on all 802.11 standards. Additionally, for customers who need to deploy access points more densely, the new ORiNOCO release delivers adaptive transmit power control to allow adjustment of Wi-Fi cell size as appropriate for the density of deployment.
