V.tal has unveiled Synapse, a next-generation submarine cable system designed to significantly expand digital connectivity between Brazil and the United States, addressing surging demand from AI, cloud, and hyperscale workloads.
Synapse will span approximately 9,700 kilometers, directly connecting São Paulo, Brazil, to Tuckerton, New Jersey, and will feature 16 fiber pairs to support high-capacity international traffic. The system is engineered using Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) technology and an open cable architecture, enabling improved scalability, resilience, and long-term capacity growth.
In addition to the primary Brazil–U.S. route, the project includes a branching unit in Fortaleza, integrated with Tecto’s Mega Lobster data center. This design reinforces Fortaleza’s role as a critical international landing hub while enabling low-latency access to high-capacity digital infrastructure for regional and global traffic flows.
