Versa Expands Unified SASE Platform with AI-Powered Observability

Versa introduced AI-driven enhancements to its VersaONE Universal SASE Platform, adding edge AI infrastructure support, AI-enhanced data protection, and AI-powered operational analytics aimed at enterprises scaling AI across distributed environments. The Santa Clara-based company said the new capabilities enable CIOs and CISOs to deploy AI workloads at the edge while maintaining centralized policy enforcement and visibility across branch, campus, and cloud environments.

The VersaONE Release 23.1.1 update expands data protection with AI-enhanced optical character recognition (OCR) to inspect text embedded in images, PDFs, and presentation files. The platform also adds AI-enabled contextual data loss prevention (DLP), which applies text analysis to detect sensitive information and identify manipulation techniques designed to evade traditional rule-based controls. Versa said the enhancements improve visibility into SaaS applications, AI-driven workflows, and modern file formats where sensitive data increasingly resides.

On the infrastructure and operations side, Versa extended its uCPE capabilities to support containerized services within service chains, enabling deployment of edge AI workloads on existing appliances. The release supports Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux kernel 6.8, aligning the operating system foundation with common SoC-based hardware platforms and AI frameworks. Versa also upgraded its AI co-pilot, Verbo, with agentic AI capabilities that correlate alerts across networking, security, and user experience domains and provide guided troubleshooting via conversational workflows.

• AI-enhanced OCR for images, PDFs, and presentations

• AI-based contextual DLP to reduce false positives and detect evasion techniques

• AI-correlated alert and root-cause analysis across networking, security, and user experience

• Agentic AI-guided troubleshooting via Verbo co-pilot

• Containerized services support on uCPE for edge AI deployment

• Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux kernel 6.8 support for AI-ready edge platforms

• Available in VersaONE Universal SASE Platform Release 23.1.1

“AI is moving from pilots to production, and enterprises need a unified foundation to scale it safely,” said Kumar Mehta, founder and chief development officer at Versa. “With this VersaONE release, Versa brings AI-ready edge infrastructure, stronger data protection, and AI-powered operations together in one SASE platform, so teams can accelerate adoption while keeping risk, complexity, and control firmly in check.”

🌐  Analysis: Versa’s update reflects a broader shift in the SASE and secure networking market toward embedding AI directly into both data protection and operational workflows. Competitors across the SSE, SD-WAN, and unified SASE segments are also adding AI-driven DLP, co-pilot tools, and edge inference capabilities as enterprises push AI workloads closer to users and data sources. Versa’s emphasis on containerized edge services and OS alignment with common AI frameworks positions it to address distributed AI use cases that extend beyond centralized cloud deployments.
