GE Acquires Lineage Power for $520 Million — Telco Power Solutions

GE agreed to acquire privately-held Lineage Power Holdings from The Gores Group for $520 million.

Lineage Power, which is based in Plano, Texas, supplies high-efficiency power conversion infrastructure and services for telecommunications and data centers. The company had 2010 revenues of approximately $450 million. It has nearly 2,300 employees, with manufacturing operations in China, Mexico and India. Lineage Power traces its heritage to AT&T, Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Western Electric.

GE said the deal will open the door for GE Energy technology to be deployed in the $20 billion per year power conversion space.
