Alcatel has shipped approximately 23.5 million lines to date, including more than 2.6 million lines in Q4 2002. Citing data from the Dell’Oro Group, Alcatel claims a 37.6% share of all lines shipped by the end of 2002, and 42.2% share of the global market in Q4. Alcatel said it is gaining market share in all regions: in Europe, the Middle East and Africa it claims 60% share; in North America a 70% share. Alcatel also claims 61% share of DSL ports shipped for digital loop carriers.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell delivered a record one million DSL lines in China in 2002. The company estimates that there are currently 4 million DSL lines in China and that Alcatel holds a 40% market share.
