UK Regulator Issues Rules for BT's Wholesale Residential Services

Oftel, the official telecom regulator for the UK, published a detailed specification for the new wholesale line and call services that BT must provide to competitive service providers. The ruling allows competitive service providers to offer a complete service to residential and businesses customers over BT’s network, without any need for the customer to receive a bill from BT. The measure includes safeguards so that customers are not switched to alternative service providers without their knowledge.
