Nokia to Enhance TM’s Optical Network for Hyperscaler Connectivity

August 22, 2024
in Optical
A A

Nokia has been selected by Telekom Malaysia (TM) to enhance its international optical Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network. This upgrade aims to address the growing demand for hyperscaler connectivity by improving network capacity, reducing latency, and supporting the increasing traffic between data centers. The new DWDM network will serve as a high-speed connection between the Malaysia-Thailand and Malaysia-Singapore borders, enhancing TM’s ability to provide reliable services to its hyperscaler customers across Southeast Asia.

The project will be powered by Nokia’s fifth-generation Photonic Service Engine (PSE-Vs), which is designed to deliver superior transmission performance over long distances. The technology will enable TM to handle the massive volumes of data required by cloud-based and AI-driven services while maintaining energy efficiency. Additionally, TM will use Nokia’s WaveSuite platform to optimize its network operations and generate new revenue streams through service enablement applications.

Key Points:

• TM has selected Nokia to upgrade its international optical DWDM network.

• The new network will connect the Malaysia-Thailand and Malaysia-Singapore borders.

• Nokia’s PSE-Vs technology will enhance capacity, scalability, and energy efficiency.

• TM will leverage the Nokia WaveSuite platform for network optimization and monetization.
