Denmark’s ASOM-Net Builds 400G IPoDWDM with IP Infusion and Smartoptics

IP Infusion has announced that Danish non-profit ISP ASOM-Net has successfully deployed a 400G IPoDWDM network, powered by OcNOS 400G ZR+ enabled switches. This development was made possible through collaboration with Smartoptics’ optical solutions and distribution support from STORDIS GmbH. ASOM-Net, which serves 75,000 subscribers, integrated OcNOS and Smartoptics’ DCP-F modular amplifiers to improve network efficiency, performance, and cost savings, reducing operational overhead.

The disaggregated solution allows ASOM-Net to avoid proprietary vendor lock-in, offering flexibility to select the best hardware for different network layers. By embedding 400G ZR+ technology directly into switches, the network is more scalable and energy-efficient, allowing ASOM-Net to meet its digital transformation goals while keeping costs low for its members.

• ASOM-Net deployed a 400G IPoDWDM network with OcNOS and Smartoptics technologies.

• The network supports 75,000 subscribers with reduced operational costs.

• Disaggregated architecture allows flexibility in selecting hardware elements.

• Smartoptics’ DCP-F modular amplifiers help optimize network reach.

• STORDIS GmbH provided distribution support for the deployment.

“The disaggregated networking solution allows us to break free from the locked-in approach of traditional network systems,” said Kristian Pedersen, System Architect, ASOM-Net.
