Semtech is now sampling its next-generation Tri-Edge GN2255S, a 50 Gbps clock and data recovery (CDR) with an integrated DML driver for SFP56 50G PAM4 bidirectional (BiDi) and CWDM6 optical modules. Designed to meet the growing demands of 5G Advanced networks, this new CDR solution simplifies optical module designs and delivers ultra-low latency, crucial for time-critical services in industries such as public safety, industrial control, and smart grid management. As part of the industry’s only analog solution for 50 Gbps fronthaul, the GN2255S helps mobile operators achieve more efficient and scalable infrastructure upgrades as data demands and 5G subscriptions continue to surge.

The GN2255S is part of Semtech’s collaboration with telecom leaders as a founding member of the Mobile Optical Pluggable Alliance (MOPA), working to develop optical solutions for the next generation of mobile networks. Its innovations support the transition to higher performance, low-latency infrastructure needed to support 5G Advanced services and the rising data needs of AI, machine learning, and augmented reality applications.

• Product: GN2255S Tri-Edge™ 50 Gbps CDR with DML driver

• Applications: SFP56 50G PAM4 bidirectional (BiDi) and CWDM6 optical modules for 5G Advanced networks

• Key features: Ultra-low latency, simplified design, power efficiency for time-critical services

• Use cases: Public safety, industrial control, smart grid management, AR, AI

• Showcase: ECOC 2024, booth E37, MR21, MR22

“Our Tri-Edge solutions for bidirectional and CWDM optical pluggables are a direct result of collaborations with telecom leaders to advance global mobile networks,” said Raza Khan, Product Marketing Director, Semtech.
