Bitdeer to Build 180 MW Data Center in Norway for Nvidia Vera Rubin

Bitdeer Technologies Group announced an agreement with Data Center Installations AS (DCI) to develop and convert its Tydal Data Center (TDC) in Norway into a large-scale AI facility. The project targets 180 MW of gross installed capacity and aims for completion as early as December 2026. The site will primarily support colocation deployments aligned with Nvidia’s latest Vera Rubin AI platform.

The Tydal facility, located in Trøndelag, will follow Nvidia reference architectures to support high-density AI workloads. Bitdeer positions the site as a cornerstone of its strategy to expand beyond Bitcoin mining into AI infrastructure. Upon completion, the company expects the site to become Norway’s largest operational AI data center and among the largest in Europe by installed capacity.

DCI, a subsidiary of Sparc Group AB, will serve as the design and construction partner, providing end-to-end services spanning engineering, installation, and commissioning. The project builds on DCI’s experience with large-scale Nordic data center deployments and reflects growing demand for purpose-built AI infrastructure in energy-rich regions such as Norway.

Bitdeer’s expansion into AI infrastructure reflects a broader industry shift where crypto-mining operators repurpose power-rich sites for AI workloads. Similar transitions have emerged across North America and Europe, driven by demand for GPU clusters and proximity to low-cost renewable energy.

Bitdeer Technologies Group is a Singapore-headquartered technology company focused on large-scale computing infrastructure spanning cryptocurrency mining and, increasingly, artificial intelligence workloads. Founded in 2020 by Jihan Wu, the company builds and operates vertically integrated data center platforms, combining proprietary mining hardware expertise, power procurement, and site development capabilities. Bitdeer’s core platform historically centered on hash rate sharing and managed mining services, but it is now expanding into high-performance computing (HPC) and AI infrastructure, including liquid-cooled data centers designed to support advanced GPU clusters.

Publicly listed on NASDAQ under the ticker BTDR, Bitdeer has been repositioning itself as a broader digital infrastructure provider. Recent initiatives include converting large-scale mining campuses into AI-ready facilities and supporting next-generation GPU platforms such as NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin architecture. Strategic partnerships with engineering and construction firms, as well as power infrastructure providers, are central to its roadmap as it targets hyperscale and enterprise demand for AI compute capacity.

The use of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform signals continued alignment between hyperscale AI infrastructure and tightly integrated reference designs, reinforcing Nvidia’s growing influence over data center architecture and deployment models.
