Cisco announced an investigation into reported claims that the NSA has developed a catalog of special techniques to penetrate the firewalls of major industry players, including Cisco, Juniper and Huawei, along with other specific network equipment. The report was published by Der Spiegel.
In a blog posting, John Stewart, Cisco’s Chief Security Officer, said Cisco is “deeply concerned” about the allegation but “unaware” of any new product vulnerabilities and is seeking additional information.
