Coherent plans to introduce a 2D Collimator Array for optical circuit switches (OCS) at the upcoming OFC 2025 in San Francisco. The new optical assembly is designed to meet the rising demand for scalable, high-performance switching solutions in data centers supporting AI, machine learning (ML), and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.

The 2D Collimator Array integrates a 2D lens array with a 2D fiber array to enable matrix optical signal switching inside OCS systems. It delivers high port density, precise optical alignment, and enhanced reliability, aimed at improving the performance and scalability of OCS deployments. Coherent’s multi-beam input/output architecture supports co-design with customers, allowing tailored solutions for data center and network operators.

The announcement underscores Coherent’s growing role in advanced optical components for data center infrastructure. The company will showcase the 2D Collimator Array and other OCS-related technologies at OFC 2025 from April 1-3.
