A A

Conexant expanded its broadband access portfolio with a new family of system-on-chip (SoC) controllers for passive optical networks (PON).

Conexant’s “Xenon II” family of controllers is designed for optical network units (ONUs) on the client-side of FTTP, multi-dwelling-unit (MDU) and FTTN EPON/GE-PON applications. Support for VoIP, as well as IP multicasting is included to facilitate real-time IP voice and video applications.

In addition, Xenon II controllers can be used with the company’s media processing, wireless LAN and home networking chipsets to deliver QoS on every link of the home network.

The Xenon II processor family is sampling now, with production quantities scheduled for May 2006. Prices begin at $26.50 for high-volume applications.
