EchoStar Adds 400,000 Net Subscribers in Q4

EchoStar Communications’ DISH Network added approximately 400,000 net new subscribers during Q4 2002 giving it a total customer base of 8.18 million subscribers as of 31-Dec-2002, an increase of 1,350,000 subscribers over a year earlier. For Q4, EchoStar reported total revenue of $1.32 billion, a 15 percent increase compared to $1.15 billion for the corresponding period in 2001. EBITDA totaled $193 million, an improvement of $22 million compared to $171 million for the corresponding period in 2001. EchoStar’s net loss totaled $716 million for the quarter, including charges of $690 million relating to the termination of the merger with Hughes Electronics.
