At ECOC24, Coherent Corp. launched an 100G ZR QSFP28-DCO transceiver, setting a new industry standard in power-efficient optical networking. The module, based on Coherent’s Steelerton DSP technology, operates at just 5W while delivering high-performance 100G data rates in a compact form factor. Designed to upgrade existing 10G DWDM networks, the transceiver features a silicon photonics optical front-end and a tunable laser using Coherent’s indium phosphide platform. It supports both SFF-8636 and CMIS management interfaces, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of network infrastructures.

The 100G ZR QSFP28-DCO is optimized for edge networks and delivers a 300 km dispersion-limited reach, making it ideal for high-bandwidth applications. Coherent’s integration of Flextune auto-tuning technology provides zero-touch provisioning, further reducing deployment complexity. As carriers look to meet growing bandwidth demands, this low-power, easy-to-deploy transceiver is poised to become a go-to solution for upgrading 10G networks to 100G.

• Product: 100G ZR QSFP28-DCO transceiver

• Speed: 100 Gbps with a 300 km dispersion-limited reach

• Power consumption: 5W, industry-leading low power

• Features: Steelerton™ DSP, silicon photonics front-end, indium phosphide tunable laser
