Ericsson Launches First Clientless ZTNA for Wireless WAN

Ericsson expanded its NetCloud SASE platform with the industry’s first fully integrated clientless Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution designed for Wireless WAN environments. The new capability enables organizations to securely connect third-party contractors and BYOD users to corporate and IoT/OT resources without requiring VPNs, agents, or browser plug-ins—offering a seamless, air-gapped access method to minimize cyber risk.

NetCloud’s clientless ZTNA enhances security by running each session in isolated cloud containers, creating a physical separation between unmanaged devices and enterprise systems. The platform supports granular access controls based on user roles, device types, and real-time risk analytics. Additional features include micro-segmentation, removal of static public IP needs, continuous risk assessment with IDS/IPS integration, and seamless authentication with existing enterprise identity providers.

Targeting organizations embracing wireless-first, 5G-connected strategies, the clientless ZTNA option offers a scalable solution for securing dynamic, unmanaged device access. NetCloud SASE with clientless ZTNA is available now as part of the NetCloud ZTNA license and will be demonstrated at RSA Conference 2025, highlighting Ericsson’s leadership in secure 5G enterprise networking.

Key points:

  • Ericsson expands NetCloud SASE with clientless ZTNA for third-party and BYOD access.
  • Sessions are isolated in cloud containers to prevent malware propagation.
  • No VPNs, agents, or special browsers required—users access via a secure URL.
  • Fine-grained access policies based on least privilege and real-time risk analysis.
  • Integrated with NetCloud Manager for unified visibility across SASE and Wireless WAN deployments.

“5G uniquely introduces a surge of IoT and OT assets, which are frequently monitored and maintained by third-party suppliers and contractors. NetCloud ZTNA offers a straightforward, policy-based solution that ensures users have isolated access to resources based on the principle of least privilege,” said Pankaj Malhotra, Head of WWAN & Security, Enterprise Wireless Solutions at Ericsson.
