FCC Establishes Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau

September 24, 2006
in Uncategorized
A A

The FCC voted to establish a new Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, consolidating all its public safety, national security, and disaster management policy making, planning, and outreach activities into a single department. This Bureau will provide a single central hub for the development of policies and rules to promote reliable communications for public safety, national security, and disaster management.

One of the Commission’s strategic goals is to ensure that public safety, health, defense, and emergency personnel, as well as all consumers in need, have reliable communications during emergencies and crises.
