Nokia will provide core networking equipment for Empyrion Digital’s new KR1 Gangnam Data Center in Seoul, South Korea. The deployment includes Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Router (IXR) as the data center gateway and aggregation switch, and the 7210 Service Access System (SAS) as the access switch for Empyrion’s IT systems. The agreement supports Empyrion’s strategy to expand digital infrastructure across Asia to meet surging demand from hyperscalers and enterprise customers.

Empyrion, which builds and operates data centers across key Asian markets, is under pressure to keep pace with exponential traffic growth in the region. Nokia’s Data Center Fabric solution will allow the KR1 facility to scale efficiently, while enabling automation and energy-efficient operations. The partnership also leverages Nokia’s regional supply chain, accelerating rollout in Korea and providing a pathway for expansion into other Asian markets.

The companies said the partnership strengthens Empyrion’s ability to deliver reliable, high-performance interconnectivity for hyperscale and colocation clients. Nokia emphasized that its solution helps ensure operational efficiency, scalability, and sustainability, while Empyrion pointed to Nokia’s proven track record and regional presence as key factors in its decision.

  • Deployment includes Nokia 7250 IXR and 7210 SAS platforms
  • Enables automation-ready, energy-efficient data center networks
  • Supports high-performance interconnectivity for hyperscale and enterprise customers
  • Builds on Nokia’s regional supply chain and service capabilities in Asia
  • Expansion potential beyond Korea into other Empyrion facilities in the region

“We are excited to partner with Nokia to use their data center solutions to provide a world-class network performance to our hyperscalers and enterprise customers in Korea,” said Yongsuk Choi, Chief Strategy Officer of Empyrion Digital.

🌐 Why it Matters: Data center operators in Asia face mounting pressure to handle massive traffic growth while improving energy efficiency. Partnerships like this highlight the strategic role of advanced IP fabrics and regional supply chain strength in accelerating deployments across the fast-growing digital infrastructure market.
