Qwilt Deploys Over 2,000 Edge Nodes, Building Global Last-Mile Cloud

Qwilt announced the deployment of 2,196 edge nodes across 38 countries, spanning six continents, establishing what it claims is the largest true edge cloud network embedded within service provider access infrastructure. The milestone reflects growing demand for ultra-low latency compute and content delivery solutions as real-time applications continue to scale globally.

Through partnerships with major telecom and content providers such as Airtel, BT, Comcast, Telefonica, Verizon, and Vodafone, Qwilt has built a highly distributed edge architecture that operates closer to end users than traditional CDNs or centralized cloud platforms. Unlike platforms limited to metro data centers or internet exchange points, Qwilt deploys compute and caching infrastructure within the last-mile networks, providing proximity-based performance gains and reduced backhaul traffic.

The Open Edge platform delivers sub-5ms latency for real-time services, supports over 150 Tbps of last-mile delivery capacity, and simplifies access to this distributed edge through a single API. Qwilt’s architecture enables content publishers and developers to rapidly scale applications while lowering operational overhead across geographies.
