StarHub has completed the nationwide rollout of its XGS-PON fiber network, making Singapore the first country to achieve 10 Gbps broadband coverage across its entire territory. Powered by Nokia’s XGS-PON technology, the upgraded infrastructure supports bandwidth-intensive applications such as AI, immersive gaming, and advanced security solutions while aligning with Singapore’s Digital Connectivity Blueprint.

As part of the upgrade, StarHub has deployed Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller, an AI-driven platform that enhances network automation, efficiency, and predictive maintenance. The controller enables real-time anomaly detection, service optimization, and proactive network management, helping StarHub improve performance and reliability. With AI-powered analytics and automation, the network can anticipate and address service issues before they impact users.

This milestone makes StarHub the first operator globally to migrate fully to a software-defined access network using Nokia’s Altiplano solution. The rapid deployment and full-scale migration support Singapore’s push to expand 10 Gbps broadband adoption, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in next-generation digital infrastructure.

• StarHub completes nationwide 10 Gbps fiber broadband upgrade using Nokia’s XGS-PON.

• Singapore becomes the first country with full 10 Gbps broadband coverage.

• Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller automates network management and optimization.

• AI-driven analytics improve network efficiency and proactive issue resolution.

• Deployment aligns with Singapore’s Digital Connectivity Blueprint for national economic growth.

Lee Yeu Ching, VP of Fixed and Media Networks at StarHub, said: “We have set ambitious goals to advance our network, aiming to enhance user experience and operational efficiency. Nokia, our longstanding partner, has played a vital role in the successful completion of this crucial initiative. Nokia products and services have helped us seamlessly and rapidly transition to XGS-PON, enabling faster uptake of 10Gbps services to support Singapore’s national digital transformation plan. This milestone also signifies a meaningful achievement in StarHub’s Cloud Infinity Strategy. We are now looking forward to providing not only faster internet access, but also enhanced user experience for advance applications such as Augmented/Virtual Reality and Metaverse, among others.”

Ming Kin Ngiam, Head of SEA South for Network Infrastructure Sales at Nokia, said: “We are entering the Fiber for Everything era. Technological advancements such as next-gen PON and automation empower operators to maximize the potential of their fiber networks, introduce new services, and expedite monetization. StarHub is establishing a new standard in network modernization with their comprehensive XGS-PON and SDAN network solutions. We are looking forward to further strengthening our partnership with StarHub to drive AI/ML automation and service innovations.”
