Spirent Communications introduced its SmartBits TeraMetrics XD Gigabit test family, a platform that allows users to evaluate and test both copper and fiber-based Gigabit Ethernet implementations. Spirent’s SmartBits TeraMetrics XD scales to 768 ports and supports four dual-media test ports for both fiber and copper. Users can connect 10/100/1000Mbps copper — or one Gigabit Ethernet fiber — on each port.
Spirent’s SmartBits TeraMetrics XD uses Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGAs. Spirent also used Xilinx Design Services for development of the product.
