Vodafone Qatar has selected Nokia to lead a comprehensive network modernization project that will significantly expand 5G coverage, enhance broadband services, and improve overall network performance across the country. Announced on June 2, the agreement marks a major deepening of the two companies’ partnership and aims to position Vodafone Qatar for the next phase of digital growth in alignment with the country’s National Vision 2030.

The modernization initiative will integrate Nokia’s end-to-end cloud-native technologies, including core software, converged charging, network analytics, and digital operations. These solutions will increase capacity, reduce latency, and enable capabilities like 5G slicing for customized enterprise services. Nokia’s NSP automation platform and a five-year managed services deal for core operations will help Vodafone Qatar accelerate service delivery, lower operational costs, and prepare the infrastructure for future scalability.

The upgraded network will support advanced fiber, mobile, and cloud capabilities to meet growing demand in sectors such as smart homes, industrial IoT, and enterprise networking. With Qatar’s ICT sector projected to grow at an 8.5% annual rate through 2030, Vodafone’s investment underscores its commitment to long-term digital transformation and competitive service offerings.

  • Full modernization of Vodafone Qatar’s multi-access core network
  • Deployment of Nokia’s Packet Core, Converged Charging, and cloud-native analytics
  • Introduction of 5G slicing and AI-driven assurance for enterprise and consumer services
  • End-to-end automation across IP, optical, and core networks
  • Five-year managed services agreement for core operations

“By integrating advanced fiber, mobile, and cloud capabilities, we are shaping a smarter, more secure network that can support everything from customized home Wi-Fi to the latest enterprise technologies,” said Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim Al-Thani, CEO of Vodafone Qatar.
