Mojo Vision Adds Quantum Dot Pioneer to Advisory Board

Mojo Vision appointed Moungi Bawendi to its advisory board, signaling a deeper push into advanced materials as the company scales its micro-LED platform for optical interconnects and display applications. The Cupertino-based company is targeting high-growth segments including AI data center connectivity and next-generation wearable displays.

Bawendi, a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and recipient of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is widely recognized for pioneering work on quantum dots—nanoscale semiconductor materials now used in displays, imaging systems, and photonic devices. His research established methods for precise synthesis and scalability, helping transition quantum dots from laboratory research into commercial technologies.

The appointment builds on recent momentum at Mojo Vision, including a $75 million financing round, a $17.5 million strategic investment, and a collaboration with Marvell Technology. Mojo Vision is developing a “wafers-in, wafers-out” micro-LED platform that integrates GaN-on-silicon emitters, quantum dots, micro-lens arrays, and multicore fiber to address performance constraints in both high-density optical interconnects and compact display systems.
