Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of its Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region, expanding its cloud infrastructure in Southeast Asia. The new region will provide developers, businesses, and public sector organizations with secure data storage and enhanced compute capabilities while reducing latency for end users across Thailand. As part of this initiative, AWS plans to invest over $5 billion in the Thai economy, creating more than 11,000 full-time equivalent jobs annually and contributing approximately $10 billion to Thailand’s GDP.

The AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region consists of three Availability Zones, each with independent power, cooling, and physical security, while being interconnected through ultra-low-latency networks. This architecture supports high availability and disaster recovery strategies for critical applications. With this expansion, AWS now operates 111 Availability Zones across 35 geographic regions globally.

AWS continues to be a cloud provider of choice for leading Thai enterprises and government entities, including Bank of Ayudhya, Charoen Pokphand Group, KASIKORN Business-Technology Group, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and the Digital Government Development Agency. These organizations leverage AWS for enhanced data analytics, AI capabilities, and digital transformation initiatives.

• New Infrastructure: AWS opens the Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region with three Availability Zones.

• Investment Impact: AWS plans a $5 billion investment, creating over 11,000 jobs and contributing $10 billion to Thailand’s GDP.

• Customer Base: Thai enterprises using AWS include Bank of Ayudhya, Charoen Pokphand Group, and KASIKORN Business-Technology Group.

• Technological Focus: Advanced cloud services include compute, storage, AI, and machine learning capabilities.

• Regional Expansion: AWS now operates 111 Availability Zones in 35 regions, with additional regions announced for Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.

“We continue to see rapid cloud adoption across Asia Pacific as more customers unlock the full potential of the world’s most extensive, reliable, and secure cloud,” said Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS. “This new AWS Region in Thailand will help customers deploy advanced applications and support the country’s digital transformation.”
