Google Cloud Region Opens in Sweden

A A

Google Cloud inaugurated a data center region in Sweden, its 13th in Europe and 42nd globally.

According to recent forecasts, this area will operate on a minimum of 99% Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) during its initial year of operation in 2026, thanks to the Swedish power grid’s energy composition. It is predicted that our Swedish operations will boast one of the most impressive Google CFE1 ratings of all the electrical grid zones in which we operate. Google made its inaugural power purchase agreement (PPA) in Sweden in 2013, and since then, has entered into further long-term contracts with clean energy developers, catalyzing more than 700 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind projects in the country.
