Moratelindo, one of Indonesia’s largest telecom infrastructure providers, has selected Ribbon Communications to enhance its submarine network between Jakarta and Singapore with next-generation optical transport and automation solutions. The 1,055-kilometer link now supports 20 Tbps of capacity, leveraging Ribbon’s latest 5nm 140Gbaud coherent optics and 25 x 800G channels, enabling high-performance, future-ready connectivity.

The deployment includes Ribbon’s Muse Multilayer Automation Platform, which offers advanced network design, analysis, and control tools for streamlined IP Optical operations. By integrating automation with high-capacity optics, Moratelindo aims to optimize network efficiency and scalability while delivering reliable service across critical regional routes.

The Jakarta–Singapore subsea connection plays a key role in supporting the region’s growing data and cloud traffic. The deployment extends the existing partnership between Ribbon and Moratelindo and reflects the increasing need for carrier-grade optical infrastructure to support bandwidth-intensive applications across Southeast Asia.

Key points:

  • Moratelindo selected Ribbon’s optical transport and automation platform for its 1,055 km Jakarta–Singapore submarine link.
  • The upgraded network delivers 20 Tbps using 25 x 800G links powered by 5nm 140Gbaud optics.
  • Ribbon’s Muse Multilayer Automation Platform enhances control, design, and planning for IP Optical networks.
  • The partnership supports rising bandwidth demand across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
  • Deployment completed through Ribbon’s local partner in Indonesia.

“This deployment extends and expands our successful partnership, and enables us to provide our customers with superior connectivity while optimizing our network operations,” said Michael C. McPhail, Chief Technical Officer at Moratelindo.
