The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) of South Korea and the O-RAN ALLIANCE have signed a Cooperation Agreement to adopt O-RAN specifications as TTA standards, marking a significant step toward fostering a globally aligned Open RAN ecosystem. TTA, South Korea’s standards organization for ICT technologies, aims to enhance interoperability and innovation in mobile networks through this partnership. The O-RAN ALLIANCE, a global body focused on open, intelligent, and virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN) architectures, brings its extensive suite of specifications to the agreement, ensuring consistency with international frameworks.

This collaboration provides a pathway for integrating O-RAN specifications into South Korea’s national standards, accelerating the deployment of next-generation mobile networks. The agreement reflects both organizations’ shared vision for a competitive, diverse telecommunications ecosystem and ensures technical alignment across markets. By combining TTA’s influence in South Korea and O-RAN ALLIANCE’s expertise in global standardization, the partnership aims to strengthen Open RAN’s role in advancing modern network architectures.

• TTA: South Korea’s ICT standards body, focused on fostering interoperability and innovation in telecommunications.

• O-RAN ALLIANCE: Global organization driving open, intelligent, and virtualized RAN technologies.

• The agreement enables TTA to adopt O-RAN specifications as national standards.

• Supports global interoperability and the deployment of standards-based Open RAN systems.

• Aims to promote diverse vendor ecosystems and cost-effective mobile network platforms.

“TTA and O-RAN ALLIANCE share a commitment to the advancement of Open RAN and recognize its role in fostering an ecosystem of trusted vendors capable of delivering cost-effective, high-performance mobile networks,” said Seung-Hyun Son, President of TTA.
