CableLabs Issues DPoE Specifications

March 1, 2011

A A

CableLabs issued DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE 1.0) specifications outlining a common approach for cable operators to use existing DOCSIS back office provisioning processes to deliver business services over EPON access networks.

CableLabs said DPoE will enable higher velocity and highly scaled access into the business services marketplace because many suppliers already had achieved interoperability on the DOCSIS back office infrastructure. Through DPoE technology, cable operators anticipate delivering IP and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-based business and commercial services applications.

Bright House Networks, Comcast and Time Warner Cable led the development of the specifications.http://www.cablelabs.com/
